The Story Of Al-Ilm

Al-Ilm is the product of two like minded mothers Kaunain Moosavi and Syeda Zainab Fatima who were looking for an Islamic Sunday school for their children. When they couldn’t find one that suited their requirement, they decided to make one. Al-Ilm was a vision for the future, in 2010 they started Hyderabad's only english medium activity oriented madrasa that caters to boys and girls between 4 to 10 years. The motto of the madrasa is ‘Nurturing curiosity, eliminating ignorance’ and It’s been 12 years and the focus is the same; to lay a strong foundation in little children of love for Islam and nurturing their curiosity about their existence. Using age appropriate curriculum, activities and games, Al-Ilm is the perfect madrasa for parents looking to balance Islamic knowledge and secular education for their children.

The madrasa runs at two branches in Hyderabad, making access to quality Islamic education accessible for parents. The academic year is enriched with celebration of special occasions, regular assemblies, competitions, games, annual days and more. We pay special attention to ensure the children don’t feel pressured, and instead enjoy their Sundays and find pleasure in learning about Islam. Al-Ilm is also a Salam Online Collaboration Madrasa since 2020, using the Kisa curriculum and resources from Salam Online along with other in house activities to enhance the learning experience of the children.

Kisa Curriculum & Resources

Following Steps to Perfection curriculum by Al-Kisa Foundation designed under the guidance of Maulan Nabi Raza Abeidi. The text books contain fun and exciting layout, they’re printed in colour and include activities. Each topic is supplemented with age appropriate interactive activities and crafts to improve learning and build excitement. Resources from the Kisa Foundation are also used for story telling. The Quran is also taught based on the age and knowledge of the student.

Trained Teaching Staff

Teachers at Al-Ilm are chosen based on their knowledge, eagerness to learn and compassion for children. The teachers are trained on the curriculum, and how to teach holistically in class. Special emphasis is given on pedagogical appoach of teaching aimed at improved learning. Students are the center of focus, and activities are created based on the interests of the children. We encourage discussion and conversation with the students in class to build a strong bond with the teachers.

Events & Activities

Various special days and events are celebrated throughout the year. Significant days from the Islamic Calendar are covered in assembly. Yearly events like inter-madrasa competition,Annual prize day, annual majlis, jashn, and other special days are celebrated to encourage participation from the students. In class activities include storytelling, crafts, plays, learning poems, nasheeds, etc.

Branches

In order to reduce conveyance time and improve accessibility across the city of Hyderabad the madrasa functions at Noor Khan Bazar and Khairatabad. Parents can choose the branch based on their convenience and enroll the their child. The curriculum followed at both branches is the same, while the activities may differ based on the children's interests.
